The Solent Sunbeam Class has programmed in a new series of ten Saturday morning races with the purpose of building a larger pool of race-confident helms and crew.
These races will be ideal for introducing potential new members or training existing crews. They will be in a non-points open series format. This means that anyone (including guests) can participate so long as there is an ISC member on board.
They will be treated as training events, so pre-race start manoeuvres may be added. There may be a (pre-agreed) practice start followed by a general recall and then a short race. All races will commence at 10.50am after any Swallow or XOD fleet starts, so allowing time for practice manoeuvres and for arrival in the start area.
The dates for the Corinthian series are:
April 7, 21, 28
May 12, 19
June 30
Sept 1, 8, 22
Oct 13
We will meet at 9.30am and then organise who sails with who and adjust the format based on weather conditions.
