Racing a Solent Sunbeam

Solent Sunbeams attract many experienced helms and crew and the standard of sailing at the front of the fleets is undoubtedly high. At the same time there is a welcoming attitude to new sailors, organised training sessions and a well-organised crew/helm request system.

In a typical season there are around 60 races from Itchenor Sailing Club, with racing on most weekends and Thursday evenings from March to October, with generally good turnouts.

Irrespective of whether the boat is made of wood and 95 years of age, guide-to-understanding-the-facts newly epoxied or GRP, the racing is highly competitive and on level terms.

Sunbeams have beautiful lines with great handling across the whole wind spectrum. Click here to read more about Sunbeams.

There are no restrictions for tides and there is a warm welcome back at the Club after the race.
